Are the posted questions getting worse?

Never been a Dicaprio fan myself but his latest films have been pretty solid ... Blood Diamond, The Departed (wow), Body of Lies and now Inception ... all very different kinds of films and different roles. There are so few movies that make me think (aside from thinking about how dumb they are.)

DiCaprio is a good actor, I will give him that. I did watch The Departed and it was a good movie and he did an excellent job. Just don't like the actor for whatever reason.

The questions of consciousness and perception go back at least to Plato and since they're never really answered they continue to be interesting. I always thought the Matrix storyline would have been a thousand times more compelling had the end result been the realization that their reality was in fact another layer of control. You could never be 100% sure what reality is.

The question of what reality is is actually easily answered. Reality is what we agree it is. Change our agreement, change our reality. :w00t: If you want a movie kinda similar to the Matrix that deals with the reality thing a bit better than the Matrix, check out The 13th Floor.

Almost Kit, reality is whatever YOU think it is. Your reality is different from everyone else's reality, and THAT's reality.

Forgot about 13th floor, never realized how similar they were...

    Steve,

Good luck on the NomCom interview!

Thanks, and right back at you.

Hey, never said I got to that point.:-P

    Steve, Good luck...

And Jack, what is that comment supposed to mean? I hope things are going as planned.

I was being careful, I wasn't sure what I could make public, but since everyone else did I guess I can. I do have an interview with the NomCom next Thursday afternoon.

Good luck to both of you! And nice interview with Andy, Jack!

Ok, I had to lookup NomCom and what I found is WTH??

I'm guessing you're referring to the PASS Nomination Committee, right?

When I google NomCom, it has nothing to do with PASS. It's for ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), which tells me we're talking about IP addresses and domain names.

Is that the NomCom you guys are talking about?

  • Guess I'm going to have to talk to my fellow candidate. Jack, lots of people won't know what NomCom means.

The NomCom is the PASS Nominating Committee. Both Jack and I are attempting to run for the PASS Board of Directors. Our applications were accepted and we now have interviews with the committee that will determine if we appear on the ballot this fall for the members to vote on.

Many of you know that my daughter Kassondra enlisted in the Army last year. She enrolled in an on-line college to begin working on her bachelors degree earlier. In keeping her options open and looking at alternatives, she has been talking to her Captain over the past couple of weeks.

She has four officers (possibly a fifth, a LtC) working with her. Over the next six to nine months, they will be putting together the packet necessary for her to (hopefully, many prayers requested here) attend West Point as a part of the Class of 2015.

Her Captain has even told her he'd come to her graduation.

Definitely a reason to brag. I hope my kids have options like that when they are Kassondra's age.

Congrats, and you definitely deserve some bragging rights. Best of luck to Kassondra.

  • Been swamped at work the past few days...

Congrats Lynn on the new job!

Decaprio, IMHO was best in What's eating Gilbert Grape... It wasn't a great movie but his and Johnny Depps acting were great. I haven't seen inception yet but I did see Despicable ME with the kids and loved it. I also saw The Sorcerers’ Apprentice and really enjoyed it.

Is anyone game for discussing BBQ again? I headed to Houston next week to see family, anyone have any suggestions on where to go for BBQ there or anywhere on the trek between Phoenix and Houston?

    Yes.

There have been some really 'entertaining' questions lately. There have been some 'entertaining' replies too.

So far this week I've seen two different people advocating backing the log up in Simple recovery.

    Gail Shaw
Microsoft Certified Master: SQL Server, MVP, M.Sc (Comp Sci)
SQL In The Wild: Discussions on DB performance with occasional diversions into recoverability
