Glad to see that Steve is running for the PASS board of directors. I don't think that there are any better candidates out there, especially ones that have done and do as much for the community.
Thanks, Jack. Hopefully we'll both get on.

If Jack and Steve don't get on, we'll have to rename the organisation FAIL 😀

I think Simple Talk uses LuLu.
They do but LuLu has some problems too. There was a guy copying books and posting them under his name, just at lower prices.

What has happened to the nefarious one called Gus?
Gus was working on a contract where web access was strictly monitored, so he didn't feel comfortable posting. That contract got terminated a bit early so he's looking again. (I'm his wife so in a position to know. :-D)

Thanks all for your confidence, but don't commit your votes until I make it past the nominating committee AND you find out what I think PASS should do. Who knows, maybe we disagree.

Best of luck with the Nom Com. And good luck on your run. This could be a tough year to pick who to vote for. Which of the current board are up for reelection?

The 3 spots that are open are:
Andy Warren - running for re-election
Douglas McDowell - has not announced if he is running for re-election
Lynda Rabb - term-limited out so this is a spot that will be filled from someone currently not on the board. My bet is Steve gets this spot.
I was assuming that Andy and Douglas would run, which really means one spot is open as it would be hard for me to beat an incumbent and now with Steve running it should be very interesting IF Douglas runs again I'm definitely #4 in name recognition which would likely mean #4 in votes. Fortunately whatever the outcome is, it's okay with me.

Aren't there also appointed board members? They usually come from the pool of candidates. I know Tom LaRock first served that way. You may be in my friend, despite running against Steve.

Tom got in because someone couldn't finish their term, so in the case of a mid-term opening there is an appointment by majority vote of the board.
The only appointed board members who are eligible to vote are the "Vendor-Appointed" directors from CA and MS. Other people can be appointed by are non-voting board members and, technically, they don't even have to be invited to board meetings.
I'm okay with being in, but I'm also okay with not being in. In reality, I just think I need to be willing to take the heat that I've given the board. Not everyone agrees with that stance, but I believe that you shouldn't criticize the decisions made by volunteers unless you are willing to volunteer yourself. I know that others don't believe that way and that's okay, but I have to stay true to that belief, so I'm running. Win or lose it will be a great learning experience and already has been.
