Any ideas you have for bumping up membership, I'm all ears.
Yeah, pay for my time off work and the flight across the pond and I'll join. 😀
Wish I could have been there to meet you guys, would have been brilliant. :w00t:
I stand no chance of my company paying for me attend PASS. :crying:
Maybe I'll have to start saving 🙁
Far away is close at hand in the images of elsewhere.

I'm hoping to make it to the PASS conference this year. I've got the conference fees taken care of. I just need to come up with the money for travel, lodging, and expenses. Time to start looking for sponsors I guess.
I'm really looking forward to meeting some of the regulars from here.
Hey Dixie, you going this year?

What "philosophy" are you good folks referring to?Presumably something around people who won't take the time to 'fix' a problem 'properly'.
As it happens, I think the comments on that thread have missed the point a bit.
A column with the IDENTITY property is not the only valid design.
It looks to me like the guy is implementing a Sequence Table.
I'd put it a bit stronger than that: there are cases where using a sequence table is appropriate and a column with the IDENTITY property is not a valid design (because it will not work).

I'm on vacation in RI to see my parents. It just so happened that my vacation coincided with the local PASS user group meeting. The meeting was fine but I finally got to do something I've been waiting for almost a year to the day to do... I got a chance to do some 12 oz. curls with and chat one-on-one and face-to-face with one of the giants in the SQL world... Mr. Grant Fritchey.Grant, good talking with you and Raghuram. It was a real pleasure. Thanks for making the time.:-)
You kidding the pleasure and honor were all mine. It was a blast. Can't wait to do it again in Seattle and maybe add a few more Threadizens to the mix.
Thanks for coming to the SNESSUG meeting. Any ideas you have for bumping up membership, I'm all ears.

We're considering using LiveMeeting in Memphis so that more people could "attend" the meeting.

We've talked about it a few times, but there hasn't been a lot of interest shown from our members. But, I'm willing to try it. I've got the equipment to make it happen.

We're lucky in that there are rooms already set up for this where we meet.

If you LiveMeeting, make sure you have some people in the room, and if you can, have the remote speaker with a camera. It helps.

What we're contemplating is using LiveMeeting at our regular meetings, with hopefully a room full of people. The speaker would be live. Some of the attendees would be remote.
I'd still like to try a meeting with a remote speaker. Finding speakers is not always easy and this would certain increase the size of the speaker pool we can pick from. The idea of multiple PASS chapters having their meeting at the same time with remote speakers sounds interesting. Why should a remote speaker speak to only one chapter at a time?
Great ideas. We just need to move forward on implementation. (I know, famous last words.)

That's a good point Alvin, you could easily consolidate meetings. I just love when chapter use LiveMeeting, because I get to attend the Orlando/Houston/wherever chapters without leaving my house.
'course, I suck at figuring out timezones, so I've dialed into the tail end of a couple, but whatever. 😀

I've presented remotely for two different user groups this year. Based on the feedback, it seems to work well.

We are planning to experiment with remote speakers this coming September. If that works out, I will be bothering all of you.. 🙂
