Sorry, Gail, looks like SA is not moving on in the World Cup.π
What a surprise. Not.
At least we didn't lose every match we played.
True - and so far you have won more matches than the US.
And England! (what a bunch of t*ssers)
I never even thought South Africa would even win a game.
So, even though I (and Gail obviously) didn't believe too much in them, I was surprised last night by their performance.
They were a bl**dy sight better then England! Cant believe the chances that Shrek screwed up. SA were amazing by comparison (and at the end of the day it was a really good match, which is what the people want to see).
On the other had our Orsyp guru (who is French) was getting lower in his chair minute by minute.

Is this the first time the USA has made it past this point in WC history?

Yeah, well done US! They just didn't stop fighting and that's the reward one gets! Let's see who they play in the round of the last 16. Anything is still possible in Group D later tonight.

No, in 1930 they came third, and they reached the quarterfinals in 2002. Last year in the Confederations Cup here in South Africa they lost to Brazil in the finals. Smaller (preperatory) tournament amongst the (presumable) top 16 teams in the world.
