Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • There are quite a few people here with Oracle skills, including Jeff. I'm not sure Jeff wants to help with Oracle, but worth a try.

I thought AIX was pretty cool, but there is a learning curve there. I'd think while you learn, you'll need to get accounts on a bunch of BBS's for the different skills. Good luck, been in similar situations, and it sucks.

Ok, I give up. What's a clustering agent?

    Who's got the crystal ball?

A clustering agent is the goodness that binds together the food, in this case made up of brown sugar syrup and honey.

  • And here I thought cat litter was a clustering agent. :w00t:

Thanks, Paul. The Oracle forums here on SSC seem to be a good place to post MSSQL to Oracle and Oracle to MSSQL interoperability issues, but I think there are better places to look for Oracle-specific help.

@steve-2, http://www.oraclecentral.com is for sale, are you looking for a new challenge? 😀

Very good, and I broadly agree with what it says. I just have a slight worry that its conclusions only really apply to those people who already earn enough to enjoy a comfortable standard of living.

  • There seems to be a rash of questioners that absolutely refuse to provide anything like enough detail to give a half-decent answer.

Honestly, it's like pulling teeth on some active threads just now.

    Onwards!

Tiny URLs are not blocked in our network but youtube is. So it is not going to help me.

  • I don't know what conclusions to draw, or how widely to take the ideas. Some of those ideas have been implemented at Red Gate, and I'm not sure how they're doing since I'm not there regularly enough, and it already kind of fits me.

I do think that trying to pay more money, is a losing game, and bonuses often seem to cause more headaches than rewards. I think offering a little more freedom, and then just holding people to their responsibilities, not their daily chores, is an idea worth trying.

  • What a waste of good sarcasm...
