I have a crossbow, and I don't have to go through customs to get to Seattle....Also, Seattle may not be Dallas, but bow hunting was a big deal in eastern Washington when I lived there. Lots of Bass Pro Shops all over the place with bows in various pulls, etc.
Good gosh man, be quiet!
😀

Yeah, defending against poor SQL :w00t:
Grant, beware, I saw her throwing people all over the dojo at Puget Sound Aikikai

I deny everything.... 😛
I'm testing for my 3rd degree on the 14th of March.
And we're defensive too... just a bit more agressive on the defense than you guys are.

Would some sort of Mock Interview work as a networking opportunity?
I'd think so.

Why the Heck do both of you have to be good in SQL and be an expert in kicking the back side of us mere mortals? :hehe:
This would mean that I cant outrun you, Cant out fight you... My back side will be very very sore after an interview with you all.
😛

Fear me for I am a geek.
Looks to me like we aren't the meek and timid types any more. Oh, I haven't been active in the martial art for almost 23 years now, but I had studied Shoto-Kan karate for three years and had earned my first degree black belt. I've forgotten most of it, but can still find someones knee without looking. In a fight, that's the first thing I'm taking out of my opponent. They can't chase me if they can't run.

Roy, at least with me, you don't have to worry about being martial-arted, or outrun. I'm 40 pounds overweight, have a bum knee and arthritis in my hips. Even when I was a kid, I was the slowest runner and worst athlete in my class in every school I went to. Does that make you feel any safer?

Physically safer... Maybe...(Compared to Gail, Grant and Lynn, Yea) But mentally I will still be dead.. Words are sharper than a knife I hear.. If I get interviewed by you all, my knees will shaking.... To be honest I have attended only couple of interviews and got the answers wrong even though I knew them well... 🙂
But they saw my nervousness and gave me a practical test.... There I excelled.... hehehehe. I have always had problems putting words together and explaining what I have in my mind. Even here in SSC, I have a problem stating the answers in such a way that the person who is asking understands what I am blabbing about.

Good choice. All that high kicking junk is a waste of time, effort, motion and will surely get you into trouble. Stomp on their feet or kick their knees or shins. Especially if you do it while cocking back a hand like you were getting ready to hit them. Focuses their eyes on the wrong spot... Then the fun starts.

I'm still pretty quick over a short distance, even carrying an extra 40 lbs. Of course I am only 5'3" so I'm not that imposing.
Having always been the smallest guy in the class I learned to fight dirty early on.
Steve mentioned just being louder than Gail, and I'll put my pipes up against anyone.

Fighting is like magic: It's all about the misdirection.
And, of course, if you cock your fist and the guy is busy looking at your feet to see if you're about to kick him, and ignores the fist...
A guy I know who's seriously into his martial art told me a parable about a bunch of old masters sitting around arguing about the "best attack". After several minutes of heated discussion, they noticed that the oldest, wisest master wasn't saying anything at all. So they asked him, "Wisest master, what is the best way to defeat an opponent in a single blow?" He quietly told them, "Punch him in the nose."

I'm still a bit over weight, like to loose about another 15 to 20 pounds. Not the fastest runner, but I do pretty good keeping up with most of the high school soccer players (both boys and girls), but as I tell my kids I save my running for the pitch. I do need to get back into the gym, though, with soccer season just around the corner.

I'm carrying about 15 pounds I don't need (and no, it's not my head. I need it. I need two) and it does slow you down. I used to run cross-country, so I'm not terribly good over the first 100-400 meters. After that... you'd best keep running. I was teaching aerobic kickboxing for a while (blech, hate it), so my wind is still pretty good. I just like beer & food more than I should.
