Glad to see I'm NOT in the top 10 here. Not surprised though, especially with my lack of forum activity in general this year.

Not a bad thing, but for those of you that are MVPs, keep that in mind when reporting. I tend to report about 3/4 of my posts to MVPs noting that I estimate that 25% of my posts are administrative stuff, or fun stuff, like this thread.I exclude this entire forum from the counts I submit, and then divide by 3 to get 'number of questions answered', figuring that on average it takes 3 posts to answer a question (considering there are requests for info, complains about dup posting and other fluff outside this forum)
Hmmm... They never even asked me how many questions I answered. I think if you took away the number of times I said "do you have an execution plan" I only have about 2000 posts.

Different leads work differently I think. I get a spreadsheet each year (spent almost all of last weekend filling this year's out), and one of the tabs covers my forum contributions.

I think you guys and gals might discount the value of asking "do you have an execution plan?" It shows future readers that they ought to do this. It shows people troubleshooting that this is a tool to use. And it shows patience and a willingness to help (part of what an MVP is). I could argue that some of my posts shouldn't count, and they shouldn't. Things like joking in here about movies or noting that I've closed/moved a thread. However posts that second advice, ask a question, etc. are valid items to count.

Well I honestly do try to help and, far too frequently, that's the first question that needs answering. I suppose if I JUST asked that & then disappeared it'd be pretty poor behavior.

I have asked questions for clarification and not come back, but usually it's because others have jumped in and helped, just not needed then usually.

Same, sometimes because after asking 4 or 5 times there still wasn't clarification.
On that point, did anyone see the thread on trying to convert an Oracle function to SQL?

Not that I recall. Do you have a link to it?

Will have to look. Sure you want it? It was a little on the side of requiring a tent visit after.

I earn those visits to the tent I have you know. 😛
Actually, I think it may be worth a look. Never know, I may actually find myself on the dark side in the future (goverment contracts tend to use Oracle a lot, probably because of the cost (database and personnel, so charge more)).

And by the way, just passed 8000 points. #10 to do so.Now I'll let Jason & Paul pass me.
Jason's gone through. I'm more than 1000 posts behind.
I only have 5000 points from real posts - and a good number in the Thread and Random Worm.
