ARE SSAS CUBES CONNECTED?

    Please this is a simple question are SSAS Cubes connected to the data source; that is after the cube is created and deployed if any changes is done to the source after the creation of the cube is the cube updated automatically or we have to manually update the cube when the source changes?

    Like most things - it depends 🙂 If you're using MOLAP storage (and a lsot of people do) then no, they're not connected. Changes made in the source data will require reprocessing of OLAP objects to have that data flow flow. If it's using ROLAP storage (incl. usage of proactive caching) then yes, you will see the data changes flow through ('immediately' is a somewhat subject term though 😉 ).
