Archive database - View data

    Hi.

           My requirements are as follows.

    The web application has a backend database which is 2.5 years older(around 25 GB). Now we have a plan to archive data that is 6 months older.

    And the business requirement is they would require this archived data has to be viewed. No updates, deletes and inserts. Also the format of viewing is not restricted to any.

    Is there any tool available in the market that works on the db design and provide the information to the novice users of the tools.

    Look into Using Partitioned Views in BOL as one approach, another is to have view only pages for the archived data that mirror your active data pages.
