We are seeking an outstanding individual to be an expert in MSSQL Server 2000/2005 Administration, and Server and T-SQL Tuning. This outstanding individual would be joining part of a larger, global team of DBAs in order to help us architect and maintain hundreds of MS SQL Server database servers and terabytes of managed data, with small to large OLTP and OLAP databases.
Other responsibilities would include installation, configuration and administration of databases for our application products or third party applications products (e.g., Siebel, BizTalk). This person will be called upon to perform a variety of complicated tasks, while demonstrating expertise a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures (both outside and inside the company).
A knowledge of server-side development issues surrounding triggers, stored procedures, and packages is required, as is proficiency in several RDBMS-specific middleware tools and utilities to support such activities as monitoring, performance troubleshooting and tuning.
The Senior Systems Engineer must have an understanding of the .NET Platform (ADO.NET, ASP.NET), Enterprise Storage SAN/NAS, and SAS70 or PCI security compliance requirements.
The Senior Systems Engineer must provide consultation on complex projects and should be considered at the top level contributor/specialist. A great degree of creativity and latitude is required, as the person in this role will rely extensively on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The Senior Systems Engineer might lead and direct the work of others.
§ Demonstrate Leadership, Technical Strategy, Technology depth, Technical Process and Organizational dynamics in the MSSQL Server 2000/2005 products.
§ Expert in the MSSQL Server 2000/2005 Architecture, Transactional Replication, Clustering, Tuning and general Administration.
§ Expert knowledge of any of high-availability architectures such as Clustering, Data Warehousing, OLAP/SQL Server, and Transactional Replication.
§ An expert knowledge of T-SQL (including writing, programming, ways to optimize T-SQL code, turning, performance troubleshooting T-SQL).
§ Expert in Performance troubleshooting and demonstrate the ability to lead a system outage call to bring the critical systems back online.
§ Expert in Advanced Database Server Performance Tuning, with emphasis on both the Database Server engine tuning and T-SQL tuning. Have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex performance or software issues, the ability to thorough review/update data access patterns by the application.
§ Expert in MSSQL performance statistics and counters such as PSSDIAG, SQLDIAG, blocking, I/O, Transactional Replication statistics etc…
§ Expert in the MSSQL Backup and Recovery topic. Performs the critical system restores and complex recoveries.
§ Expert in MSSQL database maintenance setup such as Backups, Rebuilds, DBCC’s, Update Stats, etc.
§ Expert in complex database availability, storage capacities, fragmentation, error and other complex questions.
§ Expert in the DBMS Security best practices and compliance.
§ Expert in Hardware and Enterprise Storage solutions SAN/NAS (NetApp or EMC would be a great plus)
§ Examine the upcoming or available DBMS products and features and make recommendations.
§ Assist with the MSSQL Technical decisions, make recommendations and attend meetings that require technical expertise.
§ Plan, advise and perform complicated assignments in the areas of MSSQL Data Replication, Database recoveries and Logical/Physical Database design.
§ Plan and execute complex Database changes, upgrades and software patches.
§ Help keep the environment documentation up-to-date.
§ Provide excellent support to internal and external clients.
§ Ability to communicate up (to business owners and peers), down (to technologists), and across (to other architects and Technical Leads).
§ Demonstrate the ability to be the MSSQL Server Solutions, Infrastructure and Product Architect.
§ Review and promote technical standards, rules and procedures and recommend improvement for the MSSQL Server environments.
§ Engage with external clients during the planning stage of the Implementation process.
§ Assist, mentor and train less experienced Database Administrators.
§ Provide predictability to repeatable success to IT projects by using frameworks, methodologies, patterns, and best practices.
§ Requires several years of MS SQL Server administration, support, or architect-level experience (prefer 10 years overall IT experience and 5+ years of MSSQL server related experience)
§ Expert in the MSFT Windows 2003 OS and MSSQL Server 2000/2005
§ Programming or Shell scripting knowledge

Up to 130k base. Top bonus would be another 20-25k on top of that.

No it is a permanent position and you would need to be onsite.
