Applying SP4 and KB2494120 to SQL Server 2500 Cluster

    Hi,

    I'm looking to apply SQL Server 2005 SP4 and security update KB2494120 (MS11-049) to a clustered environment (active/passive).

    Where is the best place to apply these updates? Should they be applied on the virtual cluster or should they be applied on one of the physical nodes and if so which one first - the active node or the passive node?

    Any advice would be appreciated regarding the above. Also, any general advice/hints about applying patches to clustered SQL Server 2005 environments would be appreciated.

    In SQL Server 2005 the service pack takes care of it. You just have to run it from the active node and it will spawn a setup process on each passive node.
