I would like to know if any of you have applied the Hot Fix for the problem sited in this KB. I called MS today regarding this and I was told that it would have to be applied to the SQL Server and the developer's PCs. I questioned the engineer about applying it to the server and he tells me it has to. I find it hard to believe, unless there is a change to the client that requires server changes as well.

Do you have any comments?

I have not applied this fix, but looking at the hotfix components there are definitely server-based components.
SQL hotfixes are always cumulative, and this hotfix will update your server to level 944. It is likely that the server components are needed because the client updates have been built to work against an updated server component. If you update 1 server component you have to update them all, unless you want SQL to break.
