Anyone Else Notice?

  • I can't remember the last time I saw a post in 'Notification Services/Administration' that was actually about Notification Services.  It's usually new members posting about general administration or other questions and this may be because it's at the top of the forums page.

Now, far be it from me to be critical of my favorite site on the whole www , but my suggestion for an improvement would be to possibly consider culling some of the topic headings down a bit to where they aren't so specialized.  I know if I was new to the site and had a problem that was causing me some angst, I'd probably just post it the first time I saw any heading marked "Administration".  Just a thought for what it's worth.

  • Good idea, it's true some forums are very specialized...

  • sswords - we'll have to agree to disagree on this one (makes a change what ?!?!)...

For my part, one of the things that I DO like is that the forums are so specialised - that's why I get (more than a little) annoyed when I see posts completely out of context - but then, that's me....and the world would be a very dull place if everyone was alike, right !!!

  • I think a change is needed.

With the release of SQL Server 2005, I think the forums should be organised as per the product toolset.

    eg:

    Management Studio

    -- General Administration

    -- Security

    -- Replication

    -- Notification Services

    -- Integration Services

    -- etc...

    Development Studio

    -- T-SQL Programming

    -- CLR Programming

    -- Reporting Services

    -- Integration Services

    -- etc...

  • The web site leaders might want to consider moving SQL Server 2005 to the bottom of the forum list.    It looks like it's the "newbie" forums instead of SQL Server 2005.  They just click on whatever is at the top.  This whole idea of a scroll bar confuses them.
