Any way to restore a dropped database

  • Hi I have a major problem and was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to resolve it.

I have accidently run a Drop / create script against an incorrect database (so I now have a flat database where there was one with lots of data before). This would not be a problem apart from I have just found out that I don't have a backup of this database in the last 12 months (previous one from October 2004).

So I was wondering if anyone knew of some way of restoring this database? Is there any hidden files created from the drop? Is there any way to retrieve any of the data or has it gone for good?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Rob

  • I hate to say this but you are probably out of luck.  Have you ever taken an image of the hard drive?  Maybe you have a system restore point that you can use to rebuild the mdf files.  There are no hidden files created during a drop statement so I have a feeling theres nothing you can do.

  • If it was in full recovery mode, you could run out & buy Lumigent or something similar and undo all the statements.  I'm not sure how a DROP TABLE is logged though.
