Any script to transfer the linked servers

    Hi,

    We have created a new SQl server and have moved all the databases and logins from three other servers to this. NOw we have to create the linked servers also same as the other three servers on this new server.

    Is there any way to script this and do. Since creating it one by one will be really difficult as we will have to track down all the passwords for the loginids which are used in creating the linked server.

     

    Any help will really be great.

    Did you try to import the data in master..sysservers from your source server?

    Arun,

    There's a script in the script section of this site that will script out all the linked servers in an instance.  I used it recently to transfer linked servers from SQL2000 to SQL2005.  You can find the script at http://www.sqlservercentral.com/scripts/viewscript.asp?scriptid=620
