Hi,
I just passed the 70-432 test and am going to start to studying for the 70-450 test to complete my sql 08 MCITP. I checked out http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-450&locale=en-us#tab3 and noticed that there aren't any books or e-books for this.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to study for this?
My current plan is to just take the skills list and study the sql server 08 admin pocket consultant.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We are also trying to find training materials for the 70-450 exam. Apparently MS Press does not have any training kits yet...any idea if there is one in the making?
Thanks!
Thanks!

From what I have read, MS is NOT going to make a book for this test. I have heard that they recommend reading the admin pocket consultant.
I am looking into these - http://www.cbtnuggets.com/webapp/product?id=464

I have just done my 70-450 today (841/1000). My advice it to buy the pocket admin guide and buy the 70-432 MS study book. It gets a slating, but I thought it was good if coupled with the relevant msdn sections. If you can though, try and create some VM's and create your own set of servers and practice mirroring, clustering etc. It really helps in the exam if you cover all bases as the questions are spread very wide. Just passed 70-450 on 7/2/2010.
I used the pocket admin, lots of SSMS, BOL, and practice. Transcender has pretty good practice tests. Take the tests, review the answers and explinations, and try recreating some of the test scenarios.
I plan to begin the BI track now.

Hi,
I'm in the same situation as you, I think I'm going to use this book to study:

Just barely failed the 70-450 test today.
Don't waste your money with the nuggets. They are ok but do not go into the detail you need to pass this test.
Those security questions are hard.

Sorry to hear that. There's a book on amazon by Tom Carpenter SQL Server 2008 Administration: Real-World Skills for MCITP Certification and Beyond (Exams 70-432 and 70-450) has anybody used it? There are no ratings for it on the UK or US sites.

There's also this -
70-443 and 70-450: Microsoft SQL Server Database Design and Optimization, Package
Thinking of giving it a go now I've got the 70-432 out of the way, looks like its the instructors resource but it's official MS (if that's a good thing!)

I have the book and it is pretty good read. I have not read it all the way through yet. I did not buy it was given to me at a PASS user group meeting. The good thing about is it is current, it was just written and published in 2010. It does have a test engine and flashcards (like all other Sybex books), with some video walkthroughs.
You might also go by the Skills Measured page and check Books Online for the information.
I have used MeasureUp.com that came with a few Exam Cram books I have. It is very good as practice. I think the 70-450 is about $80 for 30-day access. They have very good explanations in the answers, tell you why the wrong answer is wrong.
I might also suggest these 2 books:

If you can setup some virtual machines the lab manual would be a great thing to go through if you have not worked with SQL Server 2008 before.
