Any information on 70-433?

  • Anyone passed 70-433 yet? I don't think books or transcender is out yet. Any info like format of the exam, exam prep material and experience is appreciated.

  • I wrote it as a beta exam. Fairly standard, multiple choice, pass mark 700. If you've written previous MS exams, the format won't surprise you. I found several of the questions very long and involved, and you do need to know the new 2008 features quite well.

I used the preparation guide here - http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exams/70-433.mspx and studied out of Books Online.

I can't say much more about the format and I can't give you examples of questions as both of those are violations of the NDA that one has to accept when taking the exam.

  • Thanks for the reply.

    I know I can't ask for questions.

Are the questions just multiple choice or case studies? When you say some are long, what do you mean by that? How many questions in total? I don't think the books or the transcender is out yet, is just the books online enough? I have lot of experience in 2005 and just enough in 2008, just checking if I have to pay special attention to anything.

    Thanks.

Lots of reading. I had one where the question was almost a full screen

    How many questions in total?

I wrote the beta. I got 75 questions. The release exam will have less.

BoL was enough for me, whether it's enough for you or not, I can't say. You could always wait a bit, there's no race to get exams written

  • I passed in beta - and as previously posted, some of the questions are pretty involved.

Incidentally, I believe Transcender will be releasing prep products on this within a week or so... Definitely the way to go to help you identify the areas you need to focus on. Also, explore the links on SQL Server 2008 new features....

    Best regards!

  • I am also going to write 433. With the study guide not out from Microsoft yet, and no practice exam to try, could someone give me a hint on the format of the exam. I dont want questions or answers but am just looking to find out if its a case study exam or straight up question and answer. I have heard that the exam is one long case study then a number of questions pertaining to it and so on, but then i've heard that its one question, 4 multiple choice answers and so on.

I am nervous about the test so if someone could help with the format that would be great.

    Thanks in advance

I mentioned the format of the exam above. Is that not sufficient info?

  • Hey Gail,

    Thanks for your reply.

I read your post and I guess was just looking for clarification of it without disclosure. I'm just looking to know if its a long case study then a series of questions based on that or if its one question one answer.

    Thanks again

  • Maybe I'm missing something, but why is it a concern which it is? If you know the material, case study or no case study shouldn't matter.
