Anonymous Access Troubles

  • Hello-

I hope that someone can give me a hand. I am having a issue with Anonymous Access within Reporting Services.

Right now directory security is set to Anonymous Access. Reason being we have users that need to view reports without getting an anoying log box everytime they want to see a report.

With this configuration however we cannot deploy reports without changing access to intergrated authenication and deploying the report. Then changing the access back to anonymous so users can view reports with having to login.

Is there anyway to configuring access so we will be able to deploy reports and allow users to view reports at the same time?

    Thanks,

  • Setup two virtual directories that reference the same physical location. Set one to require authentication for deployment purposes and the other to anon for report viewing by anon users. I typically use /ReportServer and /AnonReportServer

    Hope this helps.

  • have you tried using the site settings area to create roles that can do different things on the reporting server

Everything you can imagine is real.

  • Assumptions

    a. you have a windows domain

    b. of course iis

first configure iis to use integrated authentication

goto your reporting services server home.

click on the properties tab. click on the [new role assignment] button.

and wallaa, you can enter your windows domain groups

so i guess in your case what you then have to do is create a developers/deployment group and assign all the tasks and create a users group and assign the View reports task only.

the roles you create should map to the windows domain groups

    this should solve your problem.

respond to the forums with the status so that we can all followup

  • Hi,

I am also facing the same problem. I have given anonymous access to the reports and i dont want the users to get the login prompt when accessing the reports, but i still get the login while accesssing the report from some other machine. I have given anonymous access to the reports. I hav used the datasource which has the IUSR account credentials to it. could anyone give a step by step process to solve this

    Thanking in advance
