Hi all
I seem to have a re-occuring (although intermittent) problem with the data viewers in BIDS, where they just wont pop up at all. I have configured them in several different packages, and sometimes they will pop up, other times the packages will run through to completion without ever bringing up the data viewer. Sometimes closing BIDS and re-opening helps. But in my latest package I simply just cannot get it to work.
Anyone seen this behaviour before? I'm using Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2008 R2.
Thanks!

Here are some threads of people experiencing the same issue. Maybe your solution is in there:

Thanks for the response - I had seen both those articles but unfortunately it's none of those issues. The package finishes running - if the data viewer window was hiding the package wouldn't complete until I closed the data viewer or clicked play in the data viewer.
So frustrating!

Frustrating indeed.
Is your installation updated with the latest service packs?
Someone mentioned also problems when using more then one data viewer.
(I'm just guessing here :-))

So you know, I didn't have this problem with SSIS 2012 but its a big problem in SSIS 2016. And it now has an additional bug - it won't save the columns you select. Even if it works it gives you all the columns no matter what you select. Go back into data viewer after selecting columns and you'll see your changes are lost. GRRR!
