Hello all,
Do you know any Micosoft product that gather information about the other sql apps in the organization and makes traffic decisions much easier – by monitor data sources/users usage, dormant data etc.
I mean, if I have SSRS apps in my business and I'd like to see who uses it, in what times of the day, columns not used etc.
Thank you so much for your help!

I don't know of anything that will tell you what is being used from an automated fashion. I suspect that you'd need something that combs through SSRS logs and tries to make sense of the users that have been running reports.

Thank you for the reply!
so what is the Server Management reports and the Execution Log?
and more, what are all the tools I'm reading about such as spotlight and Quest performance monitoring and Diagnostics Manager?

I am not an expert on those tools, but from what I understand, those tools are more built to manage the server itself. They look at performance and activity, but not necessarily which data and reports are being accessed.
SSRS is a subsystem, almost a separate item from SSMS. The actual data and reports being accessed is an auditing problem, not a monitoring one.

This might not get you 100%, but it can take inventory of sql server systems over your entire network. It will create reports based on sql server versions installed and services running. Not so much specific usage times though.

Thank you!
so unless I have some third party monitoring tool, reporting services alone, does not provide such functionality?
The equivalent of MicroStrategy Enterprise Manager?
