If I have SQL Server 2K with sp3a installed on my server and want to for the first time install Analysis Services on the same server do I need to reinstall the sp3a?

I'm confused by your question. Part of the reason is that this guy who sits beside me is hysterically laughing or crying all the time and I can barely hear the voices in my head. I mean someone should medicate this guy.
If your question is do I need to apply Analysis Services sp3 to connect with SQL Server 2000 running SP3 - no. There is no hard requirement like the one you have running SQL 2000 on Win2003.
If your question is should I apply SP 3. I would. There is a problem when you try to drill down using the editor which is broken by some updates/patches, and sp3 does solve it.

There is actually a seperate SQL Server Service Pack for Analysis Services and you don't need to reapply the SP3q for Database Components.
