Hello,
I have a basic question and looking for an answer. For a 2 node alwaysOn setup, do we consider the replica IP addresses as private or public ip addresses? How about the virtual IP address which we use to configure the listener, is this a private ip or public ip?
Essentially public ip is some ip that is accessible by public, but if inside the corporate domain network, can we still not consider them as public ip (since the company will have a reserved ip range which is dedicated for their organization) or do still tell them as private?
Need some clarification.
Thanks.

Your SQL servers should be as far away from public IPs as possible.
Everything should be on a internal private 10 / 172.16 - 172.31 / 192.168 range.

What would be the need to expose any of these IP's publicly?
Your answer is not something we can help you decide. Your needs would determine what is public and what is private. I would think that neither of the replicas would have a public address, and if you had to have any of these as a public addresses, it would be the listener.
