    A few thoughts...

    • What have you been doing during the past three years?  Sometimes, what you've been doing during downtime is just as important as if you were working.
    • Look into resources near you -- user groups, SQL Saturdays, networking events, etc.
    • Speaking of networking, I'd suggest building your network.  A lot of the time, it's who you know that gets your foot in the door.  Note: this will not happen overnight; there is an art to networking, and it can take time.
    • What have you been doing to brush up on your SQL skills?  (See my bullet point above about looking into resources.)  Reading articles, practicing skills (there are free versions of SQL Server that you can download, install, and use to practice), and so on are ways to keep your skills in shape.

I suspect other people will have better (and more) answers than me, but these are some thoughts off the top of my head.  In any case, good luck to you.
