Hi,
In our project , we are having two servers say Server1 and Server2. Both will be restored by a same back up database file(Size is around 400 GB). The restoration time taken for each server is 3 - 4 hours. To mitigate this, we are planning to replicate server1 to server 2. Server1 will act as Publisher and Server2 will act as Subscriber.
So anyone please tell me the advantages and disadvantages of replication.
Awaiting your reply ...

Pramila

How can replication "mitigate" (...to become less harsh or hostile) your restores? You should probably pose your question in the form of a problem and then field answers that best suit your ability to solve the problem given your constraints. Are you looking for failover, redundancy, a reporting server, et. al. Please give more information with respect to the problem at-hand.
Kind regards,
Lee

Like the previous person stated, this is not going to Mitigate your problem. Even if you are going to set up replication, You will have to set up the initial Snap shot. That will probably take more time than backing up and restoring.

What are you trying to achieve? Perhaps we can suggest something. Replication doesn't necessarily seem to fit what you are asking.

Look up Transaction log back up and warm stand by and see if that will suit your purpose.
