Refer to the links below for clarification:

The physical file names of the Resource database are mssqlsystemresource.mdf and mssqlsystemresource.ldf. By default, these files are located in :\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.\Binn\. Each instance of SQL Server has one and only one associated mssqlsystemresource.mdf file, and instances do not share this file

Hmmm...
Caught me out, I always thought the resource database was called mssqlsystemresource. That's the name I would have expected to see in the question.
Congrats on a tricky question 😉

Same here...I expected to see mssqlsystemresource in the choices. The Resource name threw me, especially since it doesn't show up under any other name.

Of course we have learned something so it's not all bad news.
Not sure when I will use the new information, but hey...;-)

Actually, it's the Resource database, with a capital R, not resource.

yup about a year or so ago if I remember correctly. The discussion that followed was based on various parts of BOL that listed the System databases. Sometimes Resource was listed as a system db, other times it was not. Apparently those inconsistencies have been corrected...

I always here it referred to as the Resource database, so I think it's getting straightened out.

Wow. 1% didn't choose Master. Interesting.

and the name of msdb is actually msdbdata.mdf just to add another $0.02 worth.
