Administer SQL from XP Workstation

  • I would like to manage SQL without the need to remote desktop onto the server. What components should I install from the SQL media to allow me to run the Management Studio / Create Reports etc....

    Analysis Services

    Reporting Services

    Notification Services

    Intergration Services

Workstation Components, Books Online and development tools

I installed 'Workstation Components, Books Online and development tools'. Installation returned:

Note: I already had SQL Native Client Installed as part of the application SQL is running.

So how do I install Management Studio etc?

    Many Thanks,

    Phil.

Update: I see under Advanced there is an option for 'Client Components', I presume this is what I am after?

Two hydrogen atoms walk into a bar. One says, 'I think I've lost an electron.' The other says 'Are you sure?' The first says, 'Yes, I'm positive... '

  • management studio is installed as part of workstation tools and you should also install SSIS. everything else is a server component

  • As mentioned above, just the Workstation stuff, maybe BOL.

IF you need SSIS, install it.

  • Thanks guys.

    Phil.
