Adding to a RAID 10 array ?

    Is it possible to add hard drives to a RAID 10 array or do you have to delete and reconstruct ?

    I am running a Dell Poweredge 2950 server.

    I suspect that this is one of those "it depends" situations.

    On the SAN kit I have worked hands on with, once a LUN has been defined you cannot "hot add" additional drive space to it.

    You can of course add additional drives to the Array but you cannot allocate the storage to an existing LUN.

    I'm no SAN expert however and I suspect that this may be possible on some kit. I would suggest you contact your Hardware vendor and put the question to them.
