Hi All,
We have a production instance which has the SQL database engine installed. (Sql server 2012 with SP2 enterprise edition).
I have a requirement to install SSRS on this instance in native mode.
Is this a straight forward process?
Can I simply add the SSRS feature from the base installer first, then run the SP2 installer again.
Will the SP2 installer only upgrade the SSRS components this time as the database engine itself is already on SP2?
Thanks in advance.

The process is exactly the same as if you installed SSRS at the same time as the engine, you just tick the SSRS box only on the features page. You then install SP2, the installer will know which components already have SP2 and which don't.
Be prepared for a reboot though to complete the install.
This is a good argument for always installing SSRS and leaving it disabled in case a requirement comes up forit down the line.

I would completely disagree with the approach to install and disable features you don't need.
Only install what is required.

Hi
Thank you all for the response.
No, this is not clustered. It is a standalone and I know that SSRS cannot be made Cluster aware.
I've anyhow successfully completed the installation of SSRS. (Base installer + Service pack).
Even though all the other components will show as selected in the installer. Only the SSRS piece get patched when you apply SP2.
thanks all.

In that case if you want to add an Ssrs instance with the same instance name as an existing sql server installation you should run the change option from add\remove programs and select to add features to an existing installation. Or just run the installer and select new feature installation supplying a new instance name for the Ssrs instance.
