Adding LinkedServer in Uppercase and Lowercase

    I am trying to find out how could I add two linkedserver with the same name, one in uppercase and the one in lowercase using sp_addlinkedserver or some other kind of script.

    Your help is very much appreciated.

    you'll need to add them with different names, because your collation is non-case sensitive in the master database;

    you could rebuild the server with a case sensitive collation, but that would cause you a lot of headaches later; much easier to just use different names.

    Thanks very much for your reply. The previous DBA has it setup that way, the same name, in uppercase,and lowercase in alomost all the linkedserver objects. Now it is my turn to do the same but I can either set it up in lowercase with a script or in uppercase with the gui. No juice for both upper and lower.

    I fully agree with lowell. Its better to avoid collation problems since then you have to take into account of collation in your queries.
