Hey guys,
I work for a medium size company. We are SQL shop. We only have SQL Server. We did not buy SharePoint and Company doesn't want to spend money on SharePoint.
Upper management want Dashboards so they can look at different company areas' KPI and performance. And they want this fast.
What would be a good way to come up with dashboards without buying SharePoint?

just use ssrs in native mode and develop the reports as normal which show the kpi info you want to show
I'm designing a monitoring metrics dashboard zt the moment which is all done in ssrs, I'm not a fan of ssrs in SharePoint mode so tend to stay away from it if I can

So, basically develop all the KPIs in one report and call that report a dashboard?
What if users want to see detail rows for the KPI. for example, if KPI says there are 15customers who didn't make payment, how can users click on number 15 and find out what those 15 customers are?
What are the other ways to get true Dashboards capabilities?

develop drill down reports.
basically in my solution I'm working on at the moment it gives high level information first, then you click on a particular metric and it loads a 2nd report which passes in a date and grabs the detail for that metric for the date which was passed in.
so at top level it shows free drive space, you then click on a drive letter and it shows a graph from that drive over the past 7 days so we can report on how much more disk space we need in x amount of time
I have an ebook in the office on dashboards in ssrs I will upload it tomorrow

Sorry Ravi, it seems like I have lost the ebook and I cant find it on Amazon. Sure the title was something along the lines of designing business dashboard in reporting services.
If you get some basic SSRS training its not much different, its just designing the procedures and then the reports using actions to drill through.
I will keep digging to find the book on Amazon for you.
