Add MSDTC to existing sql custer

  • Hi,

We have an existing Windows 2000/SQL 2000 clustered environment, but MSDTC is not installed as a resource in the cluster.

Are there certain steps that need to be taken to add/install MSDTC in the cluster?

I can only find articles on moving or rebuilding MSDTC...but not added it after SQL has already been installed on the cluster.

    Thanks!

  • MSDTC service should already be installed to each nodes of your cluster. What you have to do is to add MSDTC as a clustered resource to your cluster. The KB Q294209 should have details to direct you to do it.

  • The article talks about rebuilding a broken MSDTC installation on a cluster.

Do I just run comclust on each node?

A contractor that had configured the cluster said you have to un-install SQL from the cluster before you can add MSDTC to it.  Is this true?
