Add Calculated Value in SSRS 2005 Matrix Report

  • Hi All

I am accessing SSAS 2005 Cube and building a Matrix Report in SSRS 2005.

I need to add a calculated column (ProfitPercentage) to the Matrix Report.

    JanuaryFebruaryMarchAprilProfitPercentage

    InternetSales1000 2000 3000 4000 45

    ResellerSales2500 3500 4500 5500 55

The values January, February, March, April are the values of Month Column from Dataset. I neet to add a new column ProfitPercentage to the Matrix. I tried adding column group, row group; but those gets embedded into the Month column.

Second, I want to create the calculated value ProfitPercentage in layout tab using expressions. Would there be any issue if i create it here instead of creating at the SSAS MDX query (DataSet). Which way is optimal?

Its very easy to implement the same in SSRS 2008, but not sure how to do it in SSRS 2005.

    Thanks

    Sam

  • hi,

I would used a calculated measure if this data point would be used in other areas/reports/dash boards.

If this data point is only relevant to this one report, I would add a column and use an expression.

    hope this helps
