Ad Hoc Gui interface for SQL Server

  • Hi All,

I’m desperately looking for an affordable Ad Hoc query GUI tool for our PC and MAC users.

Preferably does not require much programming to develop.

We have MS SQL server 2000.

    Less then 20 users.

    Thanks,

    Abrahim

  • Cheap - Use Access or Excel.

If you have a web server already, write some asp and it won't cost you a penny.

  • Jonathan,

Our users do not like Access or Excel.

Not to forget that they are MAC users.

    I'm not an asp programmer.

I was hoping to find a tool that is out box ready to be used running simple ad hoc query.

    Thanks,

    Abrahim

  • Best thing is to search the web for something. I don't know of any offhand I'm afraid.

With regards to asp, if you have a knowledge of visual basic or java, it is very easy to implement. I can send you a coded example that you can tweak in a couple of minutes.

  • Jonathan,

    That would be great!

Do I need to use IIS and Apps server?

    Thanks,

    Abrahim

  • IIS on a server is all I use.

It's very easy to use. You just create a virtual directory and point it at a physical folder. The the web address is servername/virtualdirectoryname.

If you want the asp script then send me your mail through this site and I will forward it on to you.
