Sometime last week, I noticed that there were log entries on my DB server. Specifically:
1058 / Application, Userenv, Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO etc... (The system cannot find the path specified.) Group Policy processing aborted.
It turns out that the complete contents of SYSVOL\domain are gone. Hopefully, we can get it all restored from our backup tapes (it may already be done).
The mystery is: how could that possibly happen? I've googled for a clue, or someone else posting that same problem, but I have found nothing. I'm assuming that nobody in our IS team accidentally deleted everything, though that is the only explanation that I have as of now.
So long, and thanks for all the fish,

May be you system admins have implemented some software to apply Group policies on the server level. These errors belong to that.
