helo all,
this is my situation. i have Active directory somethig like |myad.com|, not |myad.local|. dont know if that has anything to do whit that i cant add sql server 2000 to active directory. tried from enterprise manager and even 'sp_ActiveDirectory_SCP'. same thing, pops error Msg 22039, Level 16, State 1: xpadsi.exe failed.
if anyone has some clue what to do, i would be very greatfull.
have sp4 installed, win 2003 - last patches...

The domain name (.com versus .local) shouldn't be an issue unless the SQL Server is registering with a different FQDN (Fully-Qualified Domain Name like myserver.myad.com) that doesn't match the domain of Active Directory (for instance, server tries to register itself as myserver.myad.local when the AD domain is myad.com).
Have you dropped xp_cmdshell or touched the MSSQLServerADHelper service (should be set to Manual running under the System account)?

Helo Brian,
i have looked under services and my MSSQLServerADHelper service is set to manual and runs under System account...but is not running ??
i havent droped xp_cmdshell, i can find it under master ext. sp-s
am i doing something wrong here i dont know?
and how can i see where is my sql trying to register, to compare the FQDN-s?
thanks!

MSSQLServerADHelper only runs when SQL Server needs it to. It doesn't run all the time.
As far as the name... If you run from a command prompt ipconfig /all you'll get a block at the top which includes Primary Dns Suffix. Make sure that matches the domain for Active Directory.
Are you seeing any errors in your server's System Event Log about not being able to register, any issues synch'ing time, etc.?

Helo Brian,
have done ipconfig and suffix is ok, i think is the same as the name of my AD. for ADHelper service i thinked that is ok, cose i havent played whit my services as i usualy know to
im geting very creazy for this, and im loosing my brain and eyes for like a hole day now...think i have to quit..
for some have any clues... more my config:
one AD, two Sql srv-s. one is on main DC, configed for windows auth. and another is on lan, configured for mixed mode. bouth computers are trusted for delegation, and user for connection is from AD trusted too.

And both are failing to register or is it just the one on the AD DC?
