This is a bit of a funny one.....I have a user which is granted access to a database via an alias. The aliased user can modify the data in tables via Enterprise manager, but attempting to modify some tables fails when attempting to do the same update in Access. The user is aliased to a 'dbo' user so there should be no trouble updating the records.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Does the Table have a Primary Key?
I have fallen for this myself. EM will let you modify data directly regardless of there being a primary key (as long as you are not trying to update one of a pair of duplicate records!) In access if you try and alter a record in a table that does not have a primary key you will notice a message (bottom left of the form) that states record set is not updateable or something along these lines.

take care to refesh the tables in Access after you make modification on SQL SERVER.
also take care of filling all field in access that is required
