access 2003 ODBC connection to SQL 2000

  • I have very little experience with SQL & ODBC.

We have an access database with linked tables using ODBC. The tables are on the SQL 2000 server.

How do I set up the ODBC link to allow multi users to share the access database that has linked tables?

I set the ODBC link up in the system DNS tab for the ODBC setup.

Right now we can make a copy of the access database or relink the tables for for each user. Neither of thes is good solution.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Russ

  • An Access data project (ADP) may be an easier way to manage that.

  • I had that same issue in my previous position, simply delete the dns entry. That's a quick and dirty solution but it got me through it.

I had to use a form with a DNS entry deletion code in the background.

  • Thanks for the information.

    I will try your suggestions.

    Russ
