Hello,
I have purchased an original Academic version of MS Visual Studio 2005. Included in the 11 disks are two SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition 32-bit disks. I have an existing SQL Server 2000 setup on my machine and upon loading the 2005 disks, I received a warning message that I did not meet the hardware requirement. It was not for insufficient RAM but rather I did not have XP SP2 installed. I went ahead and installed SQL Svr 2005 and everything appeared to install correctly. Upon reboot and launching the server, I can only see SQLServerExpress. Is this due to academic version? I don't want Express I want to be able to copy full databases from my 2000 server etc.
Thanks for your insight.

Since your operating system is a server operating system(ie Windows2000 Server, 2000 Advanced Server, Windows 2003) the install dummies itself down to the Express Version.
I believe that is what you are seeing, and it is normal
