Abuse: Network Scan Port 1433/tcp (MS-SQL)???

  • Hi,

Cross post. I posted this in the admin forum. There isn't much activity in there, I got no replies. So I am posting it here too.

I got this email from please_do_not_reply@securepipe.com. Can any one tell me is this a scam/junk email or should I take this seriously?

    ---------------------------------------

    SUSPECT IP: 69.20.xxx.xx

A user, apparently from your network, probed TCP port 1433 (MS-SQL) on

the IP appearing below. Given the historical vulnerabilities of MS SQL

services to outside attack, the probe may be an attempt to gain

    unauthorized system access.

Because the probe affected an entire network, it should be considered

    an overtly hostile action.

    ---------------------------------------

    Thanks

    .

  • First, look at the IP address they gave you... it's not valid.

Second, SecurePipe.com sells network security software... the email you got is spam that is supposed to peak your curiosity enough to go to their website to see what's up.  I hate ID-TEN-T's like that...

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
