Vista is a desktop OS. SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition performs an installation check to prevent installation on desktops and only install on servers. While I personally have not tried to install EE on Vista, I would be quite surprised if the desktop check failed and it installed.
SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition is the same as Enterprise Edition, except that it will install on desktops. It has specific licensing and usage rights that are quite different from Enterprise Edition (mainly that it is not to be used for production). If your installation on Vista is for development, then use the Developer Edition and you will have complete access to every feature available in Enterprise Edition. If this installation is to support a live application, then spring for the Windows server license and put it on a server.
