As far as I know, I haven't subscribed to the topics ( the mail states I follow the users. topics emails state "topic" )

Today I received 2 mails for accounts I do not follow ( the one I posted above and one for a user named "jonathan.crawford" )
Maybe that helps you track it down.

Thanks for the usernames - interestingly, two mentioned here (jonathan.crawford and BOR15K) don't appear to have any followers (or be following anyone), so it's not just a case of mixed up ID's.
I'm going to do a bit of local debugging as those userID's to see if it highlights anything helpful.

I got this exact same email about Steve making a post, and I too, am not following him. I'd agree, the problem has not gone away. 🙁

it got worse since last week.
So all these mails get into a "junk" folder and will not be processed at all.
