A Strange Error

    I have a job scheduled via SQLAgent, it failed with the error " Could not connect to server (local) ..."

    The problem was it was being run in the wrong DB, just an mistake on my part.  But the error message is strange.

    it was a simple SQL statement

    When a job starts, SQLAgent connects to SQL Server, just like you would with QA. If there's any hiccup, which sometimes can occur, the job fails. You can set a retry after a minute or so, might help to prevent this type of thing.
