Thank you for taking the time to share this. It's a bit timely for me as I've been assigned to work on updating our scripting process.
The table based approach and the stored procedures to generate the scripts definitely has some appeal. Once the process has been developed, I like how it would simplify the process for someone to add / remove user's permissions. I also like that it would have the reason for the access available as well as opposed to a separate location.

I would say, it's just a starting point ...
I work on a set of scripts written in perl (I'm not a big fan of Powershell for data handling) which will take care of populating tables based on the security which is defined on a given SQL Server instance.
Based on that, I would like to build reports and recommendations for compliance to the standard...
Any idea, any help is welcome 🙂
