If a databse is deleted and the .mdf file is missing is there a way to recover it?

If its deleted from the drive and you have valid/recent copy in the tape drive then you can restore it.

what do you mean the tape drive? How do i do it?

Do you have a backup of the database anywhere?
If not, you are in trouble.

well i guess im screwed becuase i have the .ldf files but the .mdf files are gone. and there aren't any backups of them.
