I just passed the 70-431 exam and am interested in the MCITP cert.
Microsoft says MCDBA's need the 431 and 447 exams to get it.
I am an MCDBA, but on SQL 7.0. I'm wondering if that qualifies.
Does anyone know? Also, has anyone taken that exam? I'd like to know how
tough it is.
Thanks for any info.
Rob

I don't think you have it right.
The following are required for MCITP: Sql 2k5 DBA
1. 70-431 (which nets you the MCTS: Sql 2k5)
2. 70-443
3. 70-444

There is an upgrade path for MCDBA's. Check the specs for the 447 exam.

Hello,
MS contacted me recently about this - if you have your MCDBA 2000 to get to 2005 all you need is 431 and 447
I just passed 431
447 is next

Your cert is on SQL 7 not on SQL 2000. I don't think you qualify for the upgrade path for MCITPatabase Administrator

I don't think Bulent is correct anybody with 7.0 MCDBA should contact Microsoft directly because I got an email about two weeks back from the team to upgrade with two exams but I have both MCDBA and MCSE. I don't think that makes a difference but I am a developer now so I will do Asp.net and BI before looking into the DBA which require cluster which I don't need now.
Kind regards,

HAVE YOU DONE EXAM 447 YET? I hear we have case studies in this exam? Do you know if they have a set of questions based on the case study? Do they involve lab work also?

No, I decided on 443 and 444. I recently passed 443. It is Case Study based and I found it to be difficult. Presently I am studying for 444. From what I have seen so far, it may be the easiest of the three. Good Luck

Yeah the case studies are very heard. So exam 443 and 444 dont have any case studies then? what about labs?

443 is all case studies. I haven't taken 444 yet but the sample questions lead me to believe it will have a little bit of everything.
