in the 70-444 db optimization and maintenance study guide for becomming a DBA, it states:
Transaction Log Backups You can perform transaction log backups only during a full
database backup. --p216
however in the 70-431 it states :
Transaction Log Backups You can perform transaction log backups only during a full
database backup. There are three types of transaction log backups: --p419
i think the 2nd line is correct. is it a typo in the 70-444 book?

You can perform transaction log backups when the database is in full or bulk-logged recovery modes... but not in simple mode.

yes, im aware of this, i was just wondering if there was something i missed out on, as these two lines contradict eachother.

Maybe I'm missing something, but both of those lines say the exact same thing don't they? Other than the 2nd line, but how do they contradict?
And it's misleading anyway because you can't actually take a tlog backup during a full backup and you can take a tlog backup anytime you like as long as another backup isn't running. So I'm not entirely sure what this snippet is talking about.
