We're thinking of going 64. Do the dual core chips from Intel supprot 64 bit processing or do they produce chips specifically for the job?

If you are up against some limits, it might make sense. It does give you good headroom, but I haven't seen great studies. There was an impressive demo at TechEd, but not sure how applicable it is.
We'd love to know what youdecide or find out.

Intel's website will tell you all about the different models of server class chips and the specs for each regarding 64 bit, dual core, etc, etc. Also, your sales rep at your favorite vendor will be more than happy to go over the chip options available.

We're testing Dell's 2850 w/dual core chips. They do run x64 versions of W2K3 & SQL 2005.
