Sorry to be an old grouch (66 years old and still a DBA), but your argument becomes very weak when you don't follow your own advice. The article is a good illustration of your own point. You really do need to work on your own communication skills.

I do feel sorry for you in that this may be due what is going on in our educational institutions. My teacher friends report that they can no longer fail students - simply not allowed to. If they post failing grades, the grades are modified by others ( read that 'management', same difference ).

The tone of your article conveys that you may have a fairly long career ahead of you. Please use the time to hone your own skills also.

huh.....?

Look -I'm sure you have vast knowledge and experience stemming from your long career in IT - and most of us are privileged to have you imparting some of this knowledge to us.

However your credibility as an expert gets shot to bits once people read posts like this - at least read through your article once or twice before posting it - or have someone proof read it for you before posting it. This is just a humble request.

P.S I have never been to America.

I had to find myself reading, re-reading and again re-reading the sentences to figure out the point. But I guess we can't complain about Greg Bates' poor grammar since he did not write the content. Rather, shame on you Craig Outcalt for your horrible grammar.

Now I'm not going to claim to be an English Major. But I do try to do my best to make sense when I write an article.

Actually Craig has written a great article and articulated his points across very well.

It is, in fact, Greg Bates who made all these errors while trying to "reproduce" the article. Notice the change to Michelle from Jim in Tip #3!!

What the heck is going on here? Doesn't anybody check the article before it gets posted? It is hard to believe that anyone would allow a re-posting and plagiarism of an article that appeared only a few months ago. At least the original article seemed to make some sense.
