Probably asked before.
I was reading the Microsoft Datasheets for SQL Server 2012 Licensing and I'm trying to see if I understand it correctly. I want to install multiple SQL Servers in a VM in enironment. I have 2 servers each with 12 cores. Is it true I only need to license for 24 cores(2x12) for the two servers and with SA I can deploy as many SQL Servers instances on those VM's as I need? That's how I understand it.
Please advise.

I believe you would need to license 12 cores with SA, but Enterprise edition. This assumes that the second node in the VMWare cluster is only used for failover. If you have instances on the second node, then you will need 24 Enterprise Core Licenses with SA. This is referred to as "High Density Virtualization" in the licensing guide: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=230678
