Hi all. Pardon what is sure to be the stupid question of the day...I'm a .NET developer, and am trying to go it alone to install SQL Server 2005 and Reporting Services. I installed successfully (I believe) on a development box, but have been unable to get a good install on my desktop PC. About mid-way through the install, I get the error message
"Failed to install and configure assemblies C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Tasks\Microsoft.SqlServer.MSMQTask.dll in the COM+ catalog. Error: -2146233087
Error Message: Unknown error 0x80131501
Error Description: You must have administrative credentials to perform this task. Contact your system administrator for assistance." (Abort Retry Ignore).
If I ignore the warning, the installation continues and appears to complete.
However, after the installation, the only available option in the start menu is "Configuration Tools." No SQL Server Managment Studio, or SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio. I uninstalled and tried again, making sure all installation options were checked. No joy.
FYI, I have SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition, SS2K Reporting Services, Visual Studio 2003, and Visual Studio 2005 installed.
MSMQ is not listed in component services.
Thanks for any advice/suggestions.
Mike

Morning All,
I am having the exact same problem when trying to re-install 64bit SQL Standard Edition on a 64bit Win 2003 Server. I am only trying to install Database Services, Intergration Services and Client Components.
I think it may be due to trying to reinstall as oppossed to a fresh first installation as the Microsoft.SqlServer.MSMQTask COM application is created when installing SQL Server?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Carl
